Places to stay
Most of the hostels have swimming pool, here some of them:
Pub hostel: very cheap, clean and well located. 3$ 12 beds dorm - 4$ 6 beds dorm
Party hostels:
Funky Flashpackers: pool party was quite good!
The white Rabbit 
You can always join their activities and stay in a quieter place.

Places to eat 
Holy Khmer kitchen: good and cheap traditional food.
Brother Bong Cafe: very good breakfast but expensive.
Temple Coffee n Bakery: nice place to see the sunset and French bakery is 50% off after 6pm!

Places to visit/things to do
Visit Angkor Wat: most of the people with one or half day tour have enough.
Entrance fee 37$
Sunrise tour is quite popular:
You can get a tuc tuc taxi for 25$/whole day or 18$/half day.
Half day tour in pub hostel is 10$ with a mini van.
The main temples can be done in half day:
Angkor Wat for sunrise opens at 6am
Angkor Thom and Ta Prohm (Tom Raider)
Other smaller temples: East Mebon and Banteay Kdei.


Land mine museum 
We combined the museum with Angkor Wat as we got a tuc tuc driver for the whole day and we paid 30$ including the museum, we went in the afternoon after visiting the main temples and on the way back we stopped in another temple.
Entrance fee 5$

Walk around the markets, there are 3 markets, night market, old market and art market.

I took a whole package to cross the border from ChiangRai (Thailand) to Huay Xai (Laos), all transports included and the slow boat, it was a bit expensive but very easy and convenient for crossing the border. At the north from Huay Xai, I took the slow boat to Luang Prabang throught the Mekon river and stopped in Pak Beng. The experience was nice and the landscape,  it it was a bit long, 2 days on the boat, people spend most of their time reading. Tips: bring your own food/drinks and book your stay at Pak Beng when you arrive, it is much cheaper. At Pak Beng, the Indian Restaurants are very good. Other recommendations in the north: I have heard very good things about Gibbon experience and jungle trekking at Luang Namtha. Keeloma Boat expedition from El Nido to Coron - The Philippines

Something you have to do once in life...you probably end up repeating! Keeloma Boat expedition from El Nido to Coron. We met at El Nido v an terminal at 7am in the morning and drove to Sibaltan where we took the boat. Day 1 First stop was Magransing Island with a sand bar where you could walk on it although tide was a bit high, we also did snorkeling and saw lots of fishes! Perfect place for a drone!!! We were the only ones in that island! We had lunch on the boat over looking at the secluded Tackling island, our second stop. Then we swam and relax on this remote island. We continued with the boat towards our next stop, cliff jumping at Doble nueve. After that we went to the campsite based at Patoyo island, where we had dinner and drinks before going to bed. Indonesia, a life-changing experience!

Indonesia is special to me... After traveling several months, I can say it is my favorite country in SE Asia. Why? Because it has many good things, the first and best, the people in Bali, the kindest people I ever met, probably due to their culture/religion. I think karma is a good thing if it’s used properly. The landscapes are amazing... the wild cliffs with the the brave sea...it’s unbelievable! And my favorite view point of the whole trip is in Padar Island in Komodo National park, with magic SUNRISES!! The sea life is blowing minding...turtles, mantas, sharks, all sort of fishes...
